Victoria Eye Center is dedicated to making these activities more enjoyable for as many of our residents as possible – whether it’s exploring our many parks, visiting our museums, golfing, fishing, farming or enjoying sporting events.

LASIK

LASIK solves nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism at the source. To see clearly, light that passes through your eye needs to focus directly on the back of your retina. You may need to wear glasses to help focus this light. LASIK corrects this problem by permanently reshaping your cornea, so the light that passes through focuses correctly, eliminating or reducing the need for glasses or contacts.

Cataract Surgery

The lens of your eye functions much like a camera lens. It is responsible for taking the light that enters your eye and focusing it on the back of your retina. The lens is also flexible, and tiny muscles in your eye bend the lens to focus on objects at all distances, up close and afar.
A cataract exists when the lens of your eye becomes cloudy, impairing your vision. Your lenses are made of protein and water, and as we age, the protein has a tendency to become clumped together and this causes cloudy patches in the lens which in turn makes it harder to see.

Diabetic Eye Care

Many diabetics are not aware that high blood sugar levels can damage blood vessels in the retina. That damage is referred to as Diabetic Retinopathy. Although half of all American diabetics are affected by Diabetic Retinopathy, 90% of those people can be saved from blindness.
Diabetic Macular Edema (DME) is a complication of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) that occurs when high blood sugar levels damage the blood vessels in the retina (the back of the eye). DME is the swelling of the macula (the center of the retina) caused by fluid leaking from blood vessels in the retina. The macula is the part of the eye that allows us to see fine details in our central vision.
