LASIK

Over 14 million Americans have had LASIK since its inception in the mid-‘90s. Since that time, the technology has progressed to allow correction of an extremely wide range of visual errors, removing the hassles and inconveniences of lenses and restoring clear, natural vision.

LASIK solves nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism at the source. To see clearly, light that passes through your eye needs to focus directly on the back of your retina. You may need to wear glasses to help focus this light. LASIK corrects this problem by permanently reshaping your cornea, so the light that passes through focuses correctly, eliminating or reducing the need for glasses or contacts.

LASIK is for those who:

  • Want to reduce or eliminate their dependence on glasses or contacts
  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Have had a stable eye prescription for at least one year
  • Have no health issues affecting their eyes
  • Have no signs of glaucoma or cataracts

What to Expect in LASIK Surgery

LASIK is a two-step process performed by Dr. Boozalis:

  1. The first step is to create a thin flap in the outer layer of the cornea. This is achieved by using our advanced computer-guided method using the Alcon WaveLight® FS200 Femtosecond laser.
  2. An excimer laser then applies the treatment to the underlying layer of the cornea. Dr. Boozalis uses the Alcon WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser for this step of the process.

After the procedure, the flap is then put back in place, where it heals extremely fast. Patients can return to normal activities the very next day, even driving for the first time without lenses!

LASIK Expectations

The goal of LASIK is to reduce or eliminate any need for glasses or contacts. While we cannot guarantee you will have the results you desire, we can say that the vast majority of patients (98% of patients!) see 20/20 or better and are extremely happy with their vision after LASIK.Dr. Boozalis will only approve patients for LASIK after a thorough eye examination. On average, he rejects 20% of LASIK applicants because their eye health and physical conditions don’t meet the right qualifications. If you are a good candidate, you will be given additional information about the procedure that will allow you to make an informed decision about whether to proceed.

LASIK 20/20 Money Back Commitment

It may seem crazy to offer a money back program for LASIK. The fact is that Dr. Boozalis has an excellent track record of providing his LASIK patients with 20/20 vision – or even better vision – after surgery that he extends his confidence to patients who meet certain criteria. If you qualify for the program, Dr. Boozalis commits to you  that you will be able to read the 20/20 line on the vision chart after surgery, or he’ll refund your LASIK procedure fee. No gimmicks, no joke. There aren’t many LASIK surgeons who back up their surgical abilities with this type of commitment.

LASIK Risks

Serious complications with LASIK are extremely rare. LASIK is a safe, effective and permanent procedure, but like any surgical procedure, it does have some risks. Many of the risks and complications associated with this procedure can be reduced or eliminated through careful patient selection and thorough pre-operative testing using the latest diagnostic technology. After LASIK, you may experience some visual side effects. These visual side effects are usually mild and diminish over time. Specific risks of LASIK include:

  • Mild to severe dry eye syndrome
  • Need for glasses or contacts after surgery
  • Vision impairments, such as glare, starbursts, halos and double-vision
  • Vision loss
